Kosmonaut is a short film competition for children and adolescents under the age of 19. A jury of experts will decide winners in five categories who will receive prizes. The youngest contributors compete for the prize for the Best Junior.

While the adolescent compete in the following categories: Best Documentary Film, Best Fiction Film and Best Animated Film. All the films compete for the prize Kosmonaut of the Year. The prizes will be awarded in a separate ceremony and show on the 6th of March 2009.

During the show all the nominees in each of the categories will be screened in full. All films submitted will be screened during Kosmorama 2009.
