A brief, practical course exploring horror and ‘extreme cinema’. Sam Walker is a writer, director and producer. He also runs The Horror Film School: www.horrorfilmschool.com. After chasing funding for 2 years, he made his first short film on an ultra low budget with a young persons theatre group in Bristol. Duck Children stormed the festival circuit in 2001, picking up a host of international awards including the Canal + award at Clermont Ferrand and the Jury Prize at San Sebastian. This was followed by the Film Council funded Pool Shark, and Tea Break which won the Silver Meliés and was nominated for best European horror/fantasy film. All of his films have been bought by Channel 4 and Canal +. He is currently completing a schizophrenic version of Hamlet for the Royal Shakespeare Company and preparing to make his debut feature film this year. He has had retrospectives of his work at Edinburgh International Film Festival and Compass of Horror and written several features with the UK Film Council and Vertigo Films. |
