Bohdan Sláma’s debut feature The Wild Bees brings us to a remote villlage in the northern Czech part of Moravia, far from the rest of the world. Village life revolves around idleness and druknenness. After fourty years of communism everything that’s left is a half collapsed church and and an abandoned field of farmland. The villagers use humour to overcome the helplessness, as they look forward to the annual village party.
