Yulene Olaizola makes her directorial debut with this remarkable and impressive documentary, originally a school project. The director’s own grandmother, Rosa, tells the story about a mysterious friend and tenant, the (probably) gay and possibly schizophrenic artist Jorge. Although he died fifteen years ago, Jorge still occupies Rosa’s mind as well as her house, among other things she has his peculiar paintings and drawings hanging on the walls.
The talkative and still beautiful Rosa takes us on a tour through the house, and we become more and more fascinated by her, by Jorge and their unusual and affectionate friendship. Jorge had many secrets and by digging into some of these, the mood of the film changes almost imperceptibly – from being cozy and nostalgic to something much darker. Did Jorge hide a shocking and terrible truth?
