The film starts with Kamar and Zaid’s merry and lively wedding. She is a dancer while he is an olive grower. Everything is bliss; however, knowing which part of the world this is, we know the idyll can’t last forever.

One night, while celebrating the beginning of harvest, they notice something going on down in the olive grove. Hurrying along through the dark they discover that armed Israeli soldiers are placing barriers. They are setting up a safety zone from the road that runs through the valley, effectively shutting the olive farmers out of their own land. In the ensuing tumults, Zaid happens to hit an Israeli soldier. He is thrown in prison, and the olive grove is inhabited by Jewish settlers who are protected by the Israeli army. This film does not attempt to give a balanced account of the Middle East conflict – it deals with one side of the conflict and never takes a neutral point of view. That, however, doesn’t make it any less truthful.
