Let It Rain is a warm comedy about the French middle class, including culture clashes, generation gaps, love and unfaithfulness. We are in a small town in Provence. Agathe, played by director Agnès Jaoui, has come down from Paris to settle the estate and sell her and her sister's childhood home. She is a famous feminist author with political ambitions. Michel, a divorced film-maker wants to make a film about Agathe, but ends up more interested in a romance with her sister. His assistant is a young Algerian, son of the house maid the sisters had while growing up.
The film takes some time warming up to but turns out to become a splendid verbal and character driven comedy in the best French tradition – light, subtle and with an underlying seriousness.
