Ice Kiss by Knut Erik Jensen tells a story very similar to a famous Norwegian spy case from the Cold War. This caused confusion amongst Norwegian film critics, who did not seem to know how to handle Jensen’s lyrical imagery and his choice of style. By relying on visually stunning tableaus rather than traditional dialog instruction, Jensen is focusing on the sheer power, strength and vulnerability of love, not making the “spy flick” many were expecting. Thus, Ice Kiss joins Jensens unique fictional universe, along with Stella Polaris, Burnt by Frost and Passing Darkness.
