Malkáv works in the hospital cellar where he takes care of the dead. He is systematic and clever. Some floors further up, his mother lies on her death bed with bone marrow cancer. A private clinic in Sweden can treat her but it will be very expensive. Malkáv has long ago reconciled himself with the fact that his mother is going to pass away. But then one day, he is contacted by a man who might change this. He asks Malkáv to kill a stranger for a substantial amount of money. Malkáv just shrugs his shoulders and accepts the offer. After all, he handles corpses all day long, why should this be any different?
The Investigator is a classic crime mystery, with a solution that contains a good dose of the absurd. Directorial debutant Attila Gigor has made a wonderfully morbid and brutally funny story where lead actor Zsolt Anger excels as the large ticking bomb that is Malkáv.
