Theatre director Roland returns home to Copenhagen after many years in exile. He has said yes to direct a production at one of the smaller theatres in town and goes to the task with drive and enthusiasm. However, the main reason why he accepted the job seems to lie elsewhere. Roland has a son named Jacob, which he hasn’t seen or spoken to for many years. Now he hopes to make up for lost time and reconcile with him. But Jacob isn’t interested in resuming contact with his returned father.
Comeback is a film about artistic ambitions that have been at the expense of close relations, a film about spilt chances and the painful consequences of past choices. Baard Owe is finely tuned and restrained in the part of Roland, a man who strives and humiliates himself to regain the trust of his son.
