It's the snapshot heard around the world. Taken by the Cuban photographer Albert Korda at a memorial service for the victims of a harbor explosion in Cuba in 1960, the face of Che Guevara became one of the defining visual symbols of the turbulent decade ahead. (Much to Korda's surprise, of course - in the throes of revolutionary fever, he never quite got around to copyrighting the image. For decades, anyone who wanted to have availed themselves of Korda's iconic portrait, mostly for purposes that have little or no relation to the international revolution, and only now is the Korda estate trying to collect from any and all enterprising capitalists.)
Chevolution is a documentary about both Guevara and Albert Korda, but most of all, it's about the image of Che, and its multitudes of meaning to people around the world. Since Guevara's assassination in 1968, he has become the dead rock star-cum-Christ of the Cuban revolution, of course - but Korda's image resonates far beyond the realm of ideology and history.
